| Paternity test without mother |
| |
Even if a sample from the mother is not available, it is possible to establish degrees of kinship and descent with a very high probability. The 16 DNA markers usually tested, can reach a probability value of 99.999%.
In this scenario we test only those characteristics transmitted genetically from father to son. An additional certainty can be obtained with the analysis of the mother's sample.
Moreover the accuracy of the test does not depend on the origin of the sample used for the analysis. DNA, for example, can be drawn by a toothbrush, a dummy, a used paper handkerchief or from blood. Hair is less suitable for a descent analysis.
