In theory it is possible to determine, by the simple comparison of their genetic profiles, whether two people are brothers or not. For this, an analysis of DNA samples is sufficient.
In fact, if we also have biological samples from the natural father and/or the mother, it is possible to get a better degree of accuracy: the test can reach a precision value of 99.9%.
If the subjects are both males, with the help of Y chromosome marker, we can analyze the paternal lineage obtaining accurate results on the relationship.
For the analysis, samples of saliva or of other biological material is necessary.
